There are so many brands these days that are releasing products that are advertised or created specifically for gamers, due to the popular demand for live streaming. And because of that, the choices that we have for good gaming headsets are becoming wider. Today, I’ll share with you why I loved this Redragon Zeus gaming headset and why I named it as my best budget gaming headset ever.

I love headsets! Because I love playing music while working or writing. But since I’ve begun live streaming on Facebook Gaming, I realized that my headset’s microphone is not good.

That’s my huge problem. I purchased a microphone alone to solve that but there’s a huge range of background noise in my resulting in bad audio on my live streams.

Also, my previous headset is badly worn out and it’s already causing itchiness plus the wires are heavily beaten by my nephew so sometimes they work, and sometimes they don’t.

Having that said I need to replace my headset. LOL.

I have been searching for a gaming headset that has a good microphone and that has good sound quality, but after months of research each headset I find just really had a flaw.

Well, for sure nothing is perfect but of course, I wanted to consider the price that I’d pay when checking their capabilities of them.

So far, Redragon Zeus H510 had so many good reviews plus among all other gaming headsets — this is the cheapest that ticks almost everything that I was looking for.

2K is not cheap to me but compared with other gaming headsets, this one is affordable.

The price of this item ranges from 1890+ to 2100 PHP. I got it during the 12.12 sale. I’ll link the product here because the seller is very accommodating. I had issues with the cable at first but then we can replace it even if it’s more than 7 days already(but since it was a week after I had to pay for the shipment, which is fine since that’s the policy).

Also, the seller of my headset has a 1-year local warranty, unlike other sellers that don’t have that.

The Design

The design of the Redragon Zeus H510 is quite similar to the expensive HyperX Cloud Stinger.

It has a metal headband with cushions that are covered with PU leather. They claim that the ear cushions are memory foam, but I don’t know how to judge whether it is or not.

All I can say is that it is soft.

The rest of the material is made of plastic with a matte finish everywhere.

I’m just really worried about PU leather because I feel like it is very vulnerable.

Just in case I didn’t mention, the microphone is detachable. I like it because I find it corny to use headsets with flipping mics.

The headset cable is detachable as well, meaning it is easy to replace if someone bit your cables. And to add these cables they are pretty long and look durable — thanks to their braided cables.

Is Redragon Zeus comfortable to wear?

So far, I’ve been using this gaming headset for all types of listening.

Because it’s not completely metal it’s lightweight and not straining any part of my head during a long period of use. I can say that it’s very comfortable to use.

One thing to take note though is the base length(you know when you don’t extend the headband) it’s quite small. Even with my small head and face, I still have to extend the headband length.

For those who have a larger face/head, it may be tight on your head but because of its flexible metal headband, it may adjust over time.

Sound Quality from an Affordable Gaming Headset?

Before I proceed with this I just want to say that I am not good with 7.1 surround sound. I’ve tried it on different headsets, all I found is that it wasn’t fun at all. Hahaha!

For music, podcast, and movies

Hands down to this gaming headset! It was surprisingly great. I’ve tried a few gaming headsets in the past but usually, I get disappointed with how they sound on music and other stuff.

But so far, this headset produces great sound quality. I enjoyed listening to music with this Redragon Zeus 2. I even listen to binaural beats and the sound waves are just so relaxing, and I can feel every single beat.

For Gaming

Given the fact that it was super good with music, I can still say that it is doing a great job when using this headset for gaming.

I tried 7.1 surround sound with Valorant ( YES! I tried that game just to test this even though I hate FPS games LOL) and it is working pretty well. Even it’s turned off it is basically the same to my ears.

I didn’t play too much because I get dizzy with FPS games. But I swear that I feel like I’m having a heart attack because the sound of gunshots feels so real to me.

With DOTA 2, the sound is very good as well. I think this is the first time that I appreciated the background music of the game so much.

The Volume

Another thing that I’d like to commend about this headset is the volume. It’s super loud but I don’t hear any distortion with the sound.

In the daytime, when kids and background noises are present my max volume is just 20 on Windows. But when everyone is asleep and the only thing I can hear is my snoring husband — the level 2 volume is pretty loud to me already.

Microphone Quality

I did a YouTube video testing out the microphone while comparing it with my webcam which is also made by Redragon. You can see and hear a very big difference in the audio quality of my video —the background noises that it has eliminated from the moment I plug it in until the part where I enable different filters on OBS including noise suppressions, and VST Plug-ins.

For this part, you decide whether it is good or bad. But for me, the mic quality of this gaming headset is awesome! Be it for communications or recording. It also had some hidden features which I have revealed in my part 2 video for this review on YT. Just please bear with the video quality since I sold my cam that time and used my webcam. Another disclaimer, I suck at talking on-cam. Don’t worry I tried my best tho.

Using the Redragon Zeus 2 on mobile devices

Because of the generosity of this brand, they have provided almost all the adapters you need to make it compatible with other devices.

Based on my test, the sound quality, the volume, and the mic quality just had the same quality as my test on PC. Overall it’s great.

Although, as far as I know, the 7.1 surround sound should only work on a PC when using a USB.

Speaking of the USB

The USB cable for this headset has volume controls and mute buttons like no other. In a usual headset, the only mute button we get is just for the mic. However, the Redragon Zeus 2, also has a mute for the sound volume.

I really find it useful especially when someone(like my kids) is trying to catch my attention because I barely or sometimes couldn’t hear them talking.

I just find it odd that it has a red blinking light and it turns blue (purple-ish) when muted. It’s odd because usually red is an indication of mute. LOL.

The only down side of this headset is that the USB cable seems to get easily broken. Many of the comments I received about this gaming headset are that their USB connector got broken easily. It happened to my Redragon Zeus 2 as well, I requested for it to be replaced but eventually, the replacement cable also gave up on me. Anyway, it’s still good with the 3.5 mm jack and the sound and mic quality are still at their finest.

Software features

You can do more with this gaming headset when you download the software, which I explained in the video. I had to explain that there because I haven’t seen someone who discussed these features.

Features like voice changes, echo, equalizer, and such. The reason behind that is the app doesn’t seem to look useful. To be honest I am about to remove the program already but god thing I discovered how to use it.

Another thing I liked about their app is the easy access to the mic monitoring volume.

To be honest, I was quite shocked at first when I installed it because before having the app — I am always in total isolation when playing therefore I couldn’t hear anyone talking outside my world.

But since the app was installed, I realized that I’m finally having awareness of the outside world. That is because it enabled the mic monitoring in a very low volume to give me that kind of awareness. That can be turned off though, but I liked it.

Overall thoughts about the Redragon Zeus H510

I swear that this is a very nice deal as it exceeded all my expectations with affordable headsets. I’m super satisfied with everything about this gaming headset.

From the sound quality, volume, and microphone —I can assure you that this one is really good. The price is very affordable to those who are into buying gaming headsets.

It would be perfect for any type of user whether you use it for your meetings, online classes, work, gaming, music, and binge-watching.

The only thing I hated…

Is the fact that I’m too excited to buy during the sale and the stocks were low at the time. That’s why I placed an order immediately. Then just a few hours later, they made the color white/rose gold color available. HUHUHU! I’ve been looking for that color but I couldn’t find one at the time I ordered.
